Locations; JJ's episode

Seeing as we have been doing so much class work on Camera and editing..i thought this post should be about LOCATIONS. WOOO
So I'm deconstructing JJ's episode this week =] enjoy.

  • First location is JJ's bedroom..it's messy and cluttered; this reflects the way he feels. He's uncomfortable and a little bit messed up. Also, we know that he hasn't been out of his room recently, and we wonder how the room came to be in such a mess.
The motivated cut to the mind map on the wall, shows us what he is thinking about: his friends.
Wall paper planets etc - clearly quite geeky.
  • Location 2 is outside his house. This establishes the kind of area in which he lives. Not too posh, possibly working-middle class family. As he walks out, the weather is dull, reflecting mood.
  • Next location is a mental healt clinic. Out side we see the sign that reads 'psycho(logical support)' showing us JJ's frame of mind. Inside, leaflets read 'Am I special?'.
  • Office environment; shown by filing cabinets, papers people in suits.
  • When he is with Emily, they are outdoors; the sun is now shining. weather is calmer, this is because they have both found a connection with eachother.
  • Freddie's shed: changed since we have previously seen it, pictures of the friends have been removed. Audience know they are having problems.

SOUND - Cook's Birthday Ep

For this episode, i decided to look at sound in skins.

Throughout the entire episode, music is played for atmosphere and ambience.

  • Episode's beginning; music is loud, fast, paced. Reflects Cook getting ready in a hurry. He meets the boys; song = Ace of Spades. Crazy, rock music, out of control - reflecting how Cook is feeling as it is his 17th Birthday.
  • Music drowns as boys talk, and then volume increases again as Cook charges at the 'posh boys.' Shows that he is losing control.
  • Music in the pub - typical 'juke box' type music - reestablishes the setting.
  • Party music in the pub..starts off muffled; gets louder as we enter the pub.
  • Crude, rude rock music as Cook stuffs down the Cake.
Thunder before the engagement party is crashes...signal that something is about to happen.
  • Freddy says no about crashing the party. Music starts as Cook has a mischeivous glint in his eye. Signal to audience about what Cook is thinking.
  • Music stops as they realise they won't be allowed in.
  • Robbie Williams - Millenium playing atthe party, followed by Tambourine by Eve. Party, dance style music. Reflects mood; chilled-out,fun.
  • 'The sun will be shining for you' - plays while Kayleigh's father makes a speech; sets tone - emotional.
  • 'Nice day for a white wedding..' before Cook goes to do his song.
  • Muffled music to establish change of surrounding - away from main party.
  • 'Is it to late to say I'm sorry' - Cook realises he has started a whole fight.
  • After Cook nearly hits JJ at the brothel, song lyrics are significant : Where do all the wicked go? Is there no one to condemn me...
  • Only real significant silence is in Freddie's shed as Cook reflects.
Sound of motorbike backfiring fools Cook AND the audience - we think its a gun shot.
  • Ace of Spades starts again...Cook screams along.

MY TV DRAMA

After much, much too much consideration, i have chosen Skins as my TV drama to evaluate and analyse. WOOO :D
